This Woman Got More In Welfare Payments For 3 Imaginary Kids Than Most People Make In Years

Woman with Imaginary children Got More In Welfare Payments Than Most People Make In Years

Facts:
From Pittsburgh
Perp: Sabrina Strothers, 23.
She has collected around $130,000 in welfare benefits for three children that don’t even exist!
Strothers claims to have given birth to triplets named Thomas, Tomalyia, and Tyreik Wilson in 2008.
She lost the twins before they were born.
Strothers applied for benefits through the Allegheny County Assistance Office on six occasions from 2012-15.
The state’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) has a “Report Fraud” link on their website along with a “toll-free welfare fraud tip line” which was used by a cousin of Strothers.
An investigation began in January when Strothers’ cousin alerted authorities about how she was providing fraudulent information on benefit documents.
Inspector general officials checked the Social Security numbers Strothers provided for the children.
But police found out that the social security numbers of the three children actually belong to people born in 1887, 1945, and 1960!
Strothers has been charged with one count of theft by deception, two counts of forgery, and two counts of making false statements in a welfare investigation.
Strothers had been contacted by the OIG and claimed that her children lived in Georgia with their father, but wasn’t able to give the man’s name or address.
The criminal complaint also indicates that Strothers worked in Maryland for about 13 months, but claimed she was still living in Pennsylvania in order to obtain assistance from the state.
Strothers also allegedly falsified information about other jobs and internships in order to get more benefits from the state.
In all, Strothers received $2,000 in benefits from Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, $90,000 in medical assistance, and $37,269 in food stamps from the state of Pennsylvania.
She surrendered to police on Dec. 12.

This story reminds me of an old Ray Stevens Song...
