Lead Me, Lord, Through Darkened Night

Lead on, O Light, through darkest night,
Shine through the shadowed way;
I do not ask to see afar,
But guide my steps today.

I do not seek the distant scene,
Nor choose my path alone;
Subdue my pride and cleanse my heart,
And claim me as Your own.

The night is long, the road unknown,
Yet still my heart is sure;
For though I walk through storm and sea,
Your mercy shall endure.

Through frost and dew, through grief and fear,
Through trial, loss, and strife,
Sustain me by Your faithful hand
And guard my pilgrim life.

Until at last on golden shore
My weary eyes shall see
The blessed land where saints rejoice
And dwell in peace with Thee.
